The Castle

Glamis Castle is situated at the heart of the estate and is the ancestral home to the Earl’s of Strathmore and Kinghorne. It was also the childhood home of HRH Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, birthplace of HRH Princess Margaret and legendary setting for Shakespeare’s play Macbeth. The castle is a 5 star visitor attraction and popular destination for visitors from all over the world.

The Castle itself is a striking piece of architecture, shrouded in history, legends and myths and set in carefully landscapes grounds and gardens. These grounds host a programme of events throughout the year celebrating heritage, culture and tradition, and include the popular Countryside Festival. The Castle is open to visitors and also has the facilities to hold events such as private receptions, lunch parties, grand dinners, cocktail parties, fashion shows, product launches, musical evenings, filming and wedding receptions.
